The Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union is named after the Oromia region in Ethiopia. Sixty-five
percent of the country's coffee production is from this region. Approximately 618,000 households in the region are
involved in coffee production.
The coffee in the Oromia region is shade
grown and is bird friendly. All of the coffee is of the Arabica type.
Men and
women of the OCFCU are the growers, processors and exporters of this high quality Arabica coffee. The OCFCU was established
in June 1999. Nearly 23,000 farmers members have organised into 35 cooperatives affiliated to the OCFCU.
